SPONSOR A V NOTCH LOBSTER RELEASE
You can make a difference and contribute to lobster populations by sponsoring a spent hen (female lobster) to be returned back to sea once she has released her eggs in the hatchery.
What we do
Before releasing them back into the sea we will V notch the female lobster, by cutting a V shape out of her tail using a special tool that does not damage the lobster. This ensures their protection to continue to breed until the V notch grows out on subsequent moults. If caught by a fisherman a V notched hen must be returned to the sea.
What you Do
Name her to receive a certificate to proudly display that you have contributed to helping lobster stocks with your chosen name on it. You will need to send an e-mail or postal address for a certificate to be sent to you.
You will be able to follow her release and see other sponsored lobsters on the hatchery facebook page and instagram page.
To sponsor a female lobster costs £15.00.
We buy the lobster from the fisherman by weight, in line with seasonal market prices which fluctuate due to the availability of stock. Lobsters continue to be a high value commodity, market prices reflecting this.
